Miniature Poodle: weight, routine and daily dose
The Miniature Poodle sits in the middle of the Poodle family. The Kennel Club recognises three sizes that share a single breed standard, and the Miniature — between 28 and 38 cm at the shoulder — is a scaled-down Poodle that keeps the same features. Its ancestors were European water dogs, and the Royal Kennel Club explains the breed began in Germany as a water retriever for duck hunters, with the classic clip designed to help it swim while protecting its joints from the cold.
The standard describes a gay-spirited, good-tempered dog with a coat that does not moult. The Royal Kennel Club recommends grooming every day and up to an hour of exercise, which gives a Miniature Poodle’s routine a pleasant rhythm: a walk, a brush, and measured meals at regular times.

Feeding-routine notes for Miniature Poodle owners
- At roughly 4.5–7 kg, Miniature Poodles are in the up to 10 kg band. Weigh yours on accurate scales — see how to weigh your dog.
- If a whole tablet is awkward, crush it into a spoonful of the usual food and offer that first.
- Daily grooming is a natural point in the day to pair with a meal and supplement, so the routine is easy to keep.
- Make any change of food gradually, and speak to your vet about vomiting, diarrhoea or a change in appetite.
- Give DIGEST+ at the same point in the day — with breakfast or dinner — so it becomes part of the routine. The tablets can be eaten directly or crushed into food.
- Weigh your dog every few months: the dose follows body weight, not breed.
- Introduce one new thing at a time. If you are also changing food, let that settle first so you know what is what.

Miniature Poodle: common questions
How many DIGEST+ tablets should a Miniature Poodle have a day?
Typical adult Miniature Poodles weigh 4.5–7 kg, which is the Up to 10 kg row of the DIGEST+ feeding guide: 1 tablet/day. Always use your own dog’s current weight.
How long does one bottle of DIGEST+ last for a Miniature Poodle?
Each bottle holds 120 tablets. At 1 tablet/day one bottle lasts 120 days. Days are for one dog and rounded down.
Is a Miniature Poodle the same as a Toy Poodle for feeding?
They share a breed standard but differ in size, so go by your own dog’s weight rather than the variety name. Most Miniatures and Toys fall in the lightest weight band, but weighing is the only way to be sure.
Will a Miniature Poodle eat a chewable tablet?
Many take a flavoured chewable from the hand. If yours is choosy, crush it into a small portion of the usual food before giving the rest. Fresh drinking water should always be available.
Can every Miniature Poodle have DIGEST+?
DIGEST+ is not recommended for pregnant or lactating dogs and is not suitable for puppies under 12 weeks. If your Miniature Poodle is under veterinary supervision, ask your vet before starting.
