Siberian Husky: weight, routine and daily dose
The Royal Kennel Club describes the Siberian Husky as the lightest and fastest of the sled dogs. It comes from north-east Siberia, where it was known as the Chukchi sled dog after the people who used it for long-distance sled hauling; because the dogs lived alongside the families, they were bred selectively for both working ability and temperament.
By the early 20th century the breed was supreme in sled racing, and in 1925 relays of Husky teams carried life-saving serum hundreds of miles to Nome, Alaska, during a diphtheria epidemic — an achievement commemorated by a statue in Central Park, New York. The RKC suggests more than two hours of exercise a day. For a dog built to run long distances, the routine hinges on timing: running and meals kept apart, and water always to hand.

How many DIGEST+ tablets does a Siberian Husky need?
A typical adult Siberian Husky weighs 16–27 kg, which crosses 2 rows of the DIGEST+ feeding guide. Weigh your own dog and use the row for its current weight — the table shows each case.
| Your dog’s weight | Tablets per day | One bottle lasts | Suggested refill |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11–25 kg | 2 tablets/day | 60 days | Every 6 weeks |
| 25–40 kg | 3 tablets/day | 40 days | Every 4 weeks |
The bottle label prints 25 kg in two rows (11–25 kg and 25–40 kg). We use the 11–25 kg row at exactly 25 kg; if your dog is heavier than 25 kg, use the 25–40 kg row.

Feeding-routine notes for Siberian Husky owners
- The breed standard range of 16–27 kg crosses the 25 kg point where the feeding guide changes, so weigh your own dog to see which band applies.
- The PDSA advises avoiding vigorous exercise around meal times. Plan runs and harness work well away from meals, and feed once your dog has cooled down.
- Keep fresh water available at all times, and especially after running.
- Give DIGEST+ at the same point in the day — with breakfast or dinner — so it becomes part of the routine. The tablets can be eaten directly or crushed into food.
- Weigh your dog every few months: the dose follows body weight, not breed.
- Introduce one new thing at a time. If you are also changing food, let that settle first so you know what is what.

How many DIGEST+ tablets should a Siberian Husky have a day?
Typical adult Siberian Huskys weigh 16–27 kg, which crosses more than one row of the DIGEST+ feeding guide: 11–25 kg: 2 tablets/day; 25–40 kg: 3 tablets/day. Weigh your dog and use the row for its current weight.

How long should I wait between feeding and running my Husky?
There is no single rule for every dog, but the PDSA advises avoiding vigorous exercise around meal times, so leave a generous gap either side of a run. Your vet can suggest timings for a dog doing regular harness work. If your dog seems uncomfortable or bloated after eating, contact your vet straight away.
How do I fit a daily supplement into a Husky’s day?
Give it with the meal that follows your dog’s main exercise, once they have settled, and keep to the same meal each day. The tablet can be eaten directly or crushed into food. Speak to your vet if your dog’s appetite or digestion changes.
Can every Siberian Husky have DIGEST+?
DIGEST+ is not recommended for pregnant or lactating dogs and is not suitable for puppies under 12 weeks. If your Siberian Husky is under veterinary supervision, ask your vet before starting.
