Boxer: weight, routine and daily dose
The Boxer descends from the Bullenbeisser — the “bull biter” — a German breed the Royal Kennel Club says was used to hunt bear, boar and deer, and which is thought to have been crossed with the Bulldog to give the basis of today’s dog. It has since proved itself as a guard dog and tracking dog, and in the armed forces as a messenger and pack carrier.
The breed standard describes a lively, strong dog, loyal to owner and family, friendly at play but with a guarding instinct, and a temperament that is equable, biddable, fearless and self-assured. The Royal Kennel Club recommends more than two hours of exercise a day, so a Boxer’s day is an energetic one — and steady mealtimes are the calm points that hold it together.

How many DIGEST+ tablets does a Boxer need?
A typical adult Boxer weighs 25–32 kg, which crosses 2 rows of the DIGEST+ feeding guide. Weigh your own dog and use the row for its current weight — the table shows each case.
| Your dog’s weight | Tablets per day | One bottle lasts | Suggested refill |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11–25 kg | 2 tablets/day | 60 days | Every 6 weeks |
| 25–40 kg | 3 tablets/day | 40 days | Every 4 weeks |
The bottle label prints 25 kg in two rows (11–25 kg and 25–40 kg). We use the 11–25 kg row at exactly 25 kg; if your dog is heavier than 25 kg, use the 25–40 kg row.

Feeding-routine notes for Boxer owners
- At 25–32 kg in the breed standard, adult Boxers sit around the boundary of the 11–25 kg and 26–40 kg bands, so weigh yours and check the dose calculator.
- Many owners of large, energetic dogs split the day’s food into two meals and let the dog settle after eating before vigorous play.
- A chewable tablet can be given from the hand or crushed into a small first portion of food.
- Make food changes gradually, and speak to your vet about any vomiting, diarrhoea or change in appetite.
- Give DIGEST+ at the same point in the day — with breakfast or dinner — so it becomes part of the routine. The tablets can be eaten directly or crushed into food.
- Weigh your dog every few months: the dose follows body weight, not breed.
- Introduce one new thing at a time. If you are also changing food, let that settle first so you know what is what.

Boxer: common questions
How many DIGEST+ tablets should a Boxer have a day?
Typical adult Boxers weigh 25–32 kg, which crosses more than one row of the DIGEST+ feeding guide: 11–25 kg: 2 tablets/day; 25–40 kg: 3 tablets/day. Weigh your dog and use the row for its current weight.
How long does one bottle of DIGEST+ last for a Boxer?
Each bottle holds 120 tablets. At 2 tablets/day one bottle lasts 60 days; At 3 tablets/day one bottle lasts 40 days. Days are for one dog and rounded down.
Should I give my Boxer’s supplement in the morning or evening?
Either works — the important thing is consistency. Pick the meal that happens most reliably in your household and give it then every day.
My Boxer is very excitable at mealtimes — how do I make sure the tablet is eaten?
Ask for a calm sit before the bowl goes down, and mix the crushed tablet into a small first portion before adding the rest. A slow-feeder bowl can also help an eager eater. If you notice any change in appetite or digestion, speak to your vet.
Can every Boxer have DIGEST+?
DIGEST+ is not recommended for pregnant or lactating dogs and is not suitable for puppies under 12 weeks. If your Boxer is under veterinary supervision, ask your vet before starting.
