Bull Terrier: weight, routine and daily dose
The Bull Terrier descends from a cross between the Bulldog and the White English Terrier, and the Royal Kennel Club credits the Birmingham breeder James Hinks with stabilising the type in the 19th century. Its most recognisable feature is the downfaced, egg-shaped head, carried on a strongly built, muscular and well-balanced body.
The breed standard sums up the character as courageous, full of spirit and fun-loving — even-tempered and, although obstinate, particularly good with people. The AKC lists ample exercise, firm but loving training and plenty of time with the family among the keys to a contented Bull Terrier, so a predictable day with set walks and set meals tends to suit.

How many DIGEST+ tablets does a Bull Terrier need?
A typical adult Bull Terrier weighs 22.5–32 kg, which crosses 2 rows of the DIGEST+ feeding guide. Weigh your own dog and use the row for its current weight — the table shows each case.
| Your dog’s weight | Tablets per day | One bottle lasts | Suggested refill |
|---|---|---|---|
| 11–25 kg | 2 tablets/day | 60 days | Every 6 weeks |
| 25–40 kg | 3 tablets/day | 40 days | Every 4 weeks |
The bottle label prints 25 kg in two rows (11–25 kg and 25–40 kg). We use the 11–25 kg row at exactly 25 kg; if your dog is heavier than 25 kg, use the 25–40 kg row.

Feeding-routine notes for Bull Terrier owners
- The standard sets no weight limits, so Bull Terriers vary widely. Go by your own dog’s scales and body condition rather than the size of the bowl; your vet can show you how to check condition by hand.
- A strong-willed dog can be a determined eater. Using part of the daily food as training rewards, rather than adding extras, keeps the overall amount in check.
- If your dog picks a whole tablet out of the bowl, crushing it and mixing it well into a little wet food is often easier than hiding it.
- Keep meals and walks at roughly the same times each day; a regular rhythm suits a breed that thrives on time with its people.
- Give DIGEST+ at the same point in the day — with breakfast or dinner — so it becomes part of the routine. The tablets can be eaten directly or crushed into food.
- Weigh your dog every few months: the dose follows body weight, not breed.
- Introduce one new thing at a time. If you are also changing food, let that settle first so you know what is what.

Bull Terrier: common questions
How many DIGEST+ tablets should a Bull Terrier have a day?
Typical adult Bull Terriers weigh 22.5–32 kg, which crosses more than one row of the DIGEST+ feeding guide: 11–25 kg: 2 tablets/day; 25–40 kg: 3 tablets/day. Weigh your dog and use the row for its current weight.
How long does one bottle of DIGEST+ last for a Bull Terrier?
Each bottle holds 120 tablets. At 2 tablets/day one bottle lasts 60 days; At 3 tablets/day one bottle lasts 40 days. Days are for one dog and rounded down.
My Bull Terrier refuses tablets. What helps?
DIGEST+ tablets are chicken-flavoured and can be eaten directly or crushed into food. If your dog spits a tablet out, crush it into a small first portion of the meal and give the rest once that is finished. If your dog is refusing food in general, speak to your vet.
Which weight band is a Bull Terrier in?
It depends on the dog. The Royal Kennel Club standard sets neither weight nor height limits, so individual Bull Terriers vary a great deal. Weigh your own dog and use that figure with the feeding guide; your vet can weigh your dog at any routine visit.
Can every Bull Terrier have DIGEST+?
DIGEST+ is not recommended for pregnant or lactating dogs and is not suitable for puppies under 12 weeks. If your Bull Terrier is under veterinary supervision, ask your vet before starting.
