French Bulldog: weight, routine and daily dose
The French Bulldog has English roots. In the 1850s a dwarf Bulldog known as the Toy Bulldog was popular in parts of Britain, and when Nottingham lace makers facing redundancy moved to Northern France they took their dogs with them. After some three decades, and probably crosses to other short-faced breeds, a new breed had emerged — bat-eared, clownish and soon fashionable in Parisian artistic circles, painted by Degas and Toulouse-Lautrec. The Kennel Club recognised it in 1906.
The breed standard describes a dog full of courage yet with clown-like qualities, and a temperament that is vivacious, deeply affectionate and intelligent. The Royal Kennel Club suggests up to an hour of exercise a day and notes the breed suits a flat, so a Frenchie’s day is often compact and home-centred — which makes regular mealtimes the easiest anchor for anything you add to the bowl.

Feeding-routine notes for French Bulldog owners
- At the breed standard’s ideal weights of 11–12.5 kg a Frenchie falls in the 11–25 kg band, but individuals vary — weigh yours and check the dose calculator.
- A compact, home-loving dog can gain weight easily on extras, so weigh regularly and count titbits as part of the day’s food.
- If your dog eats fast, crushing a tablet into a small first portion of food, then adding the rest, helps make sure it is eaten.
- Keep any change of diet gradual, and speak to your vet about vomiting, diarrhoea or any change in appetite.
- Give DIGEST+ at the same point in the day — with breakfast or dinner — so it becomes part of the routine. The tablets can be eaten directly or crushed into food.
- Weigh your dog every few months: the dose follows body weight, not breed.
- Introduce one new thing at a time. If you are also changing food, let that settle first so you know what is what.

French Bulldog: common questions
How many DIGEST+ tablets should a French Bulldog have a day?
Typical adult French Bulldogs weigh 11–12.5 kg, which is the 11–25 kg row of the DIGEST+ feeding guide: 2 tablets/day. Always use your own dog’s current weight.
How long does one bottle of DIGEST+ last for a French Bulldog?
Each bottle holds 120 tablets. At 2 tablets/day one bottle lasts 60 days. Days are for one dog and rounded down.
Can a French Bulldog manage a chewable tablet with its short muzzle?
Many do, taking it from the hand like a small snack. If yours finds it awkward, crush the tablet and mix it into a little of the usual food. Either way, have fresh drinking water available.
What time of day is best for a French Bulldog’s supplement?
Whichever meal is most regular in your household. Linking the supplement to a fixed meal, rather than a time on the clock, keeps it consistent on busy days and weekends alike.
Can every French Bulldog have DIGEST+?
DIGEST+ is not recommended for pregnant or lactating dogs and is not suitable for puppies under 12 weeks. If your French Bulldog is under veterinary supervision, ask your vet before starting.
