Hungarian Vizsla: weight, routine and daily dose
There is evidence of the russet-gold Vizsla being used in falconry on the central plains of Hungary as far back as the 14th century, its fine, slightly greasy coat suited to working in the heat of the plains. The breed dwindled in the late 19th century and was badly hit during the World Wars; the Royal Kennel Club notes that it was resurrected from dogs taken abroad by Hungarian refugees.
The breed standard describes a dog bred for hunting fur and feather, pointing and retrieving on land and water — lively, intelligent, obedient, sensitive and very affectionate, and easily trained. With more than two hours of exercise a day recommended, a Vizsla’s day is a busy one, and predictable mealtimes give that schedule its calm fixed points.

How many DIGEST+ tablets does a Hungarian Vizsla need?
A typical adult Hungarian Vizsla weighs 20–30 kg, which crosses 2 rows of the DIGEST+ feeding guide. Weigh your own dog and use the row for its current weight — the table shows each case.

|---|---|---|---|
| 11–25 kg | 2 tablets/day | 60 days | Every 6 weeks |

Feeding-routine notes for Hungarian Vizsla owners
- The standard’s 20–30 kg spans the 11–25 kg and 26–40 kg bands, so weigh your own dog and check the dose calculator.
- Very active dogs often do well on two meals a day; a daily supplement can go with whichever meal is most regular.
- Letting your Vizsla settle after eating before a long run is a calm habit many owners of active gundogs keep.
- Keep food changes gradual, and speak to your vet about any vomiting, diarrhoea or change in appetite.
- Give DIGEST+ at the same point in the day — with breakfast or dinner — so it becomes part of the routine. The tablets can be eaten directly or crushed into food.
- Weigh your dog every few months: the dose follows body weight, not breed.
- Introduce one new thing at a time. If you are also changing food, let that settle first so you know what is what.
